Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview – 20/4/19

Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview – 20/4/19

The big story as we head into this Easter weekend is the Division Two title race. AFC Rhoose lead the way and can clinch the championship by avoiding defeat against Vale Madrid. Meanwhile St Athan B head to Barry Athletic B hoping to give themselves the best chance of finishing second, sitting three points off top. While Barry Vikings take on Penarth as they chase that second spot and still have a game to play next weekend. Vikings are six points off top and three off second. Of course St Athan B and Barry Vikings can still win the league but for St Athan B it would take a win, a Rhoose loss and monumental shift in goal difference. For Vikings it would need a Rhoose loss and winning their remaining two games.
In the Premier Division, it’s first vs second as Barry Athletic take on AFC Rhoose with absolutely no effect or bearing on the league apart from Barry Athletic building momentum for the Alliance league promotion play off. Rhoose also played out a 2-2 mid week draw against Penarth Town.
St Athan wrap up their disappointing season away to Island Marine, it’s been a long season for St Athan as many changes have been endured at the club over the season. Island Marine can be look to finish on a high after last weeks cup final loss, but can count the campaign as a successful one with their league form and cup run.
In Division One, Champions Holton Road finish up against Cwm Talwg also playing their last game of the season, while Cadoxton Barry face Cardiff Airport. Caddy Barry can still finish fifth if they win their last two games, while Airport can seal fifth with a win in this game.
Check back here Sunday for a full round up.
