Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 4/1/20
Holton Road took a giant step toward the Premier Division title as they defeated third place Cadoxton Imps 2-0 to maintain their unbeaten record. Goals from Ben Pearce and Linford Harris ensured that Holton Road keep the pressure on leaders AFC Rhoose, who took the bragging rights in the Ceri Road derby against Cardiff Airport as they comfortably won 4-0. Holton Road sit four points behind Rhoose but with three games in hand.
Penarth Town continue to find good form and they carried it into the derby against Cogan Coronation winning emphatically 5-1, Rhys Fford starring for Town as they are making Cwrt Y Vil a fortress again.
In Division One, Cadoxton Barry’s unbeaten run game to a screeching halt as leaders AFC Rhoose B thumped them 6-2. Rhoose B sent out a frightening message to the rest of the division as they are now odds on favourites for the title. Caddy Barry, however, do have three games in hand on their rivals and but sit 12 points behind them now, so the race isn’t over but can anyone really stop Rhoose B.
That result allowed Barry Vikings to make second place their own this week as they pulled off a thrilling 3-2 win over Vale United. The goals coming from Mathew James, Cory James and a last minute winner from Harry Lambert. BV are now the main contenders to Rhoose B, they are seven points off the leaders with two games in hand.
