Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 24/9 

  • AFC Rhoose’s perfect start in the Premier Division came crashing down as they were walloped 6-1 at home by champions Penarth Town. Tobi Winton hit a hattrick with Macauley Winton bagging a brace and Rhys Knight coming off the bench to score. Rhoose’s consolation came from Nathan Williams with his first goal for the club. The result sees Rhoose sit third and Penarth into fourth, six points behind but having played two games less.
  • Holton Road sit top of the league as they hit Vale United for 6 and made it five wins out of five. Tyrell Williams, Jake Brew, Jack Cutajar, Ricky Sansome, Dan Morgan and Linford Harris with the goals.
  • Island Marine remain neck and neck with Holton Road at the top as they too made it five out of five as they saw off Cogan Coronatoon 5-3 away at the Rec. Marine raced into a 4-1 lead and were always in control of the game going 5-2 up before a late Cogan consolation, Adam Owens grabbing a hat trick for Marine.
  • Cwm Talwg came back from a goal down to take all three points against Cardiff Airport with an impressive win. Airport went in front thanks to Callum Hobbs but Talwg hit back through Cole Roberts and then won it 12 minutes from time with Jordan Yeoman’s strike. Talwg now go fifth as Airport are still searching for their first win.
  • Sully Sports picked up their first win of the season with a 6-2 victory away at St Athan. Ashley Cottle put Sully in front with a bullet header before Dewi Cain dispatched a fine free kick to level but Cottle put Sully back in front right on half time. Cottle then completed his hat trick right after half time but St Athan responded with a debut goal for Joe Wilburn. But Sully then scored three times in the final nine minutes with a brace from Elvis Kononovs and one from Cameron Stewart to seal the victory.
  • In the Championship, BV kept their 100% record but had to fight for the points against a stubborn Island Marine Reserve side, BV finally made the break through eight minutes from time Elliot Jackson scored and then wrapped up the win in stoppage time through a Tyler Jenkinson penalty.
  • Cardiff Airport Vets are second after they saw off St Athan Thirds 3-1. Ed Jones put Airport ahead early but Danny George-McGowan levelled for St Athan, however, Ben Jacques restored the Airport lead before Jones grabbed his second of the game to secure the win.
  • Vale Athletic sit in third with a perfect record but have played two games less then the leaders. Athletic kept that run going with an impressive 4-1 win over Holton Road Reserves, Athletic came from behind with a Brad Rosser double and then further goals from Ryan Warden and Gavin Lewis sealed the points.
  • Rhoose Social turned on the style to romp to a 7-2 win over Peterston Super Ely, a brace from Chris Morgan and Jordan Owen, and one each from Luke Windsor, James O’Neill and Cameron Barrett see Social move up to fourth place.
  • Barry Athletic Reserves got their first win of the season as they edged Vale Madrid 2-1, early strikes by Curtis Jones and Ashley Avaient were enough for the victory to lift Athletic B off the foot of the table.
