Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 29/4

  • Island Marine bounced back from cup disappointment last week and surprise 4-1 midweek defeat to Cardiff Airport with a 3-2 victory over Sully Sports. Marine went 2-0 up through Jack Blackmore and Adam Owens but Sully pulled it back level to 2-2 through Chris Rees and Scott McCarthy but Josh Davies hit the winner for Marine to ensure all three points and runners up spot in the Premier Division.
  • Anton Williamson hit a hat trick as St Athan finished off their season with a good 5-2 victory over Penarth Town, who were just off the back of an impressive midweek point against AFC Rhoose. Penarth took the lead through Macauley Winton before Williamson levelled and then put St Athan ahead but Rhys Knight equalised right on half time. But in the second half Ben Boyd put St Athan ahead from the spot before Andy Home got in on the act and then Williamson completed his hattrick and to seal the win. The win sees St Athan finish the season on a high after a very good second half of the campaign.
  • Cwm Talwg wrapped up their season with a much needed win as they defeated Cogan Coronation 5-1. Doubles from Jordan Yeoman and Josh Kirke with Sam Montgomery adding the fifth.
  • In the Championship, BV edged closer to an unbeaten league season as they followed up a midweek 9-0 win over St Athan Thirds with a 5-2 win away at Peterston Super Ely. One each from Louis Angove, Tyler Jenkinson, Elliot Jackson and a brace from Cory James gave BV the win as they were presented the Championship Trophy.
  • Vale Athletic put themselves in the box seat in the race for second place with a 4-1 win over recently in form Vale Madrid. Athletic came back from being a goal down half time to hit four unanswered second half strikes, Ryan Warden scored twice with Matt Chapman and Josh Maddocks adding the other two. The result sees Vale Athletic go second on goal difference, but have two games in hand on Holton Road Reserves with Tynewydd five points off but having played a game less than Athletic. Tynewydd and Holton Road Reserves play each other on Saturday.
  • Island Marine Reserves and St Athan Reserves played out a 1-1 draw with Harry Byrne putting Marine Reserves in front from the spot before Josh Howells levelled for St Athan Reserves with his own penalty.
