Masons Moving Group 1-3 St Athan
St Athan got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Masons Moving Group at Severn Avenue.
Josh Morgan, James Austin and Bradley Young notching Saints goals to ensure all three points.
But it was Masons who took a surprise first minute as they closed down a back pass to fire the league’s bottom side in front.
Saints, however, weren’t behind for long and Tony Pugh’s pinpoint ball into the box saw Josh Morgan volley it first time cleanly in from twelve yards for his 31st goal of the season.
St Athan poured forward and took the lead soon after, a near one two between Karl Steel and Leigh Lewis saw Steel fire a low cross from the right, Morgan connected but his effort ricocheted back off the bar but James Austin was there to rattle into the net. Not even ten minutes on the clock!!
Saints looked to create more chances with Morgan, Steel and Harfoot all seeing efforts saved as St Athan went in leading.
Into the second period and Mason’s pacey forward looked cause problems but could muster a shot on target despite getting into some food positions.
Saints looked to kill the game off with Steel and Morgan seeing shots off target before John Ball’s strike saw the home keeper produce a fine save.
Finally, Saints secured the three points as Bradley Young leapt like a salmon to head home Reece Lewis’ corner.
The game ebbed and flowed with Saints frustrated not to add to their tally. But a workmanlike performance gave Saints the win as they look to clinch a runners up spot.
