Vale Football League Midweek Preview 28/8

Vale Football League Midweek Preview 28/8

The Vale season returned the past Saturday and is now in full swing as we barely have time to catch our breath and apply the after sun, as we have mid week games this Wednesday evening.

At the VOGAFL offices we started off predictions with 5/11. Not bad considering there’s no form yet. The mid week games always throw up surprises with teams sometimes missing players through work or simply forgetting there’s a game. We take a look at this Wednesdays games.

Barry Athletic got off to a winning start and now have an intriguing fixture against Cadoxton Imps. Imps also started with 3 points and will now have their credentials well and truly tested against the reigning champions. We have Athletic for the narrow win.

Cardiff Airport get their campaign started against AFC Rhoose, Rhoose got off to a flyer and will want to build on that win, but we have a hunch in the office and think Airport spring the surprise and take all the points.

Both Cogan Coronation and Penarth Town started with defeats but are both good sides and will have to bounce back for this derby. We’ll lean toward Cogan edging it in this midweeker.

St Athan and Cowbridge Town both had a miserable start to the campaign with heavy losses. It’s another midweek derby and both sides will be delighted to attempt to put right the wrongs of Saturday, but we think they’ll cancel each other out and go with the draw.

Sully Sports start their campaign at Tynewydd, Tynny were pipped in their opening game but this side are resilient to say the least and we think it’ll be Tynny taking the victory here.

Into Division One we go as AFC Rhoose B host Cwm Talwg. It’s a tough start for Talwg and it doesn’t get easier here, we’re going with the Rhoose win.

Cadoxton Barry got off to an absolute flyer with a 6-0 opening day win, but Barry Vikings also started with 3 points. Look for Caddy Barry to edge the Vikings here.

Holton Road B showed fortitude to come back to draw their opening game but Island Marine B got off to an impressive win and we think they’ll continue their good start here and take the win.

Vale Madrid get their season underway with a mid week trip to Cwrt Y Vil and it’s always tricky.  Penarth Town B will be wanting to bounce back from an opening day defeat. However, we see Vale Madrid just taking this one.

Both Rhoose Social and St Athan B played out an entertaining draws in their respective opening games. Rhoose Social will be a stern test for any side this year with their fire power and we can’t see anything but Social victory here.

SP Billy will quickly want to bounce back from their opening day trouncing, while Barry Athletic B will also want to get their campaign on track. Look for a point a piece in an entertaining encounter.

All games are 6pm kick offs Wednesday evening, check the fixtures on this website for venues and venture out and check out the Vale football league action. Check back here for full results and round up Wednesday night.
