Vale Football League Preview 14/9

Vale Football League Preview 14/9

This weekend sees the start of the Barry Cup as we have three first round matches to whittle us down to the last sixteen

Holders Cowbridge Town face the daunting task of Holton Road, fresh off a huge win last week. Holton Road are in imperious form and we think Town’s cup defence ends here unfortunately.

Rhoose Social will be looking for the upset over Barry Athletic, Rhoose Social have been in decent form and will fancy their chances but we think Athletic will avoid this banana skin.

Barry Vikings welcome Penarth Town in another game that could see an upset. Vikings have made a good start to the season and will make it tough but we see Penarth edging it.

In the Premier Division, Island Marine take their 100% start to play Cardiff Airport in a real test of their credentials. Marine haven’t even conceded a goal yet but they’ll have to be at their best against a good Airport side, we have Marine just coming out with the points.

Tynewydd take on Cadoxton Imps in a quick turnaround from facing each other on the opening day a few weeks back. On that occasion Imps came out winners and we think they take the points here.

Cogan Coronation have had a decent start to the campaign while St Athan will be desperate to bounce back after their disappointing loss last week, we think the spoils will be shared here.

In Division One, Cadoxton Barry take on Vale United in what should be a great contest. Cadoxton Barry are 100% in the league but United seem to have found form and we think it’ll be United that ruins the perfect start.

Leaders AFC Rhoose B travel to Penarth Town B in what will be a tricky game. Town B are unbeaten after an opening day defeat and we think this one is a high scoring draw.

Island Marine B got back to winning ways last week and they welcome SP Billy to Maslin Park. SP are still searching for their first points and we think Marine B take the victory.

St Athan B host Vale Madrid, St Athan B are yet to notch a win while Madrid got their first win last week, we think Madrid stay on track with the win here.

And finally, Barry Athletic B play Holton Road B at the Athletic Ground. Both teams have a similar record but we think Holton B will edge this one in a high scoring game.
