Vale Football League Preview 28/9

Vale Football League Preview 28/9

After last weeks SWFA Cup exploits the focus turns back to the league this week. And after last weeks disastrous predictions by us in the office (4/11), we questioned whether to continue them, but they are based on form and it just shows how competitive and unpredictable the league is. So we’ll continue and probably continue to get them wrong.

We start in the Premier Division, where Cadoxton Imps will host Penarth Town in what looks to be the match of the day. Imps will be looking to bounce back from cup heartache last week while Penarth will want to add to their big first league win of the season. We think this one ends all square in a very close encounter.

AFC Rhoose will be looking for their first league win of September and welcome Cowbridge Town. Cowbridge are still looking for their first points but Rhoose have a point to prove here and we think they take the victory.

St Athan went second last week with their second win on the spin and they travel to play Tynewydd. Tynny went out of the SWFA Cup last week and will be wanting to come back all guns blazing for their first points of the season, this one is going to be tough for St Athan but we think the away team take the narrow win.

And finally in the Prem, Cogan Coronation host Cardiff Airport. Cogan will want to build off their impressive win last week while Airport need to bounce back after two losses in a row, we think it’s a point apiece here.

In Division One, league leaders AFC Rhoose B face a tricky game away to Vale Madrid, who have been in good form the last few weeks. This will be a real test for Rhoose B but the free scoring pacesetters should take the win here.

Cadoxton Barry have had an almost identical start to the league leaders but have played a game less, they host Rhoose Social and this will be a very interesting game between two very good sides, so we can’t call it and we’ll say a draw.

In another exciting match up Island Marine B play Barry Vikings at Maslin Park. It’s third vs fourth and we’ll put our neck on the line by going with a Vikings win here, but only just.

Barry Athletic B host Cwm Talwg, only a point separates the two sides and both only have one win to their name this season, this will be another good game and we think Athletic B nab the victory.

And finally, St Athan B, fresh off their first win of the campaign, welcome SP Billy who are still after their first points. This one will be full blooded and competitive, it could swing either way but we will say the home win.

So another intriguing weekend in Vale football lays ahead, keep a look out for the full round up on Saturday night/Sunday morning.
