Vale Football League Preview 5/10

Vale Football League Preview 5/10

As the rain spends most of the week battering the Vale, we pray to the football gods that it holds off enough to get the games on as we enter that period of the season.

Last week we had a pretty decent week on the predictions picking up 6 out of 9 results. Can our run continue, will we get them all wrong or will it wash out.

We start with the league leaders St Athan as they head to the reigning, defending Vale league champions Barry Athletic. St Athan have nipped into top spot off the back of three successive wins while Athletic haven’t featured in the league for a month with cup competitions, losing two ties. But something tells us it’ll be Athletic taking points.

Holton Road return to league action after a few weeks of cups and they entertain AFC Rhoose. Rhoose got back to winning ways last week but Holton Road are now being looked at as title favourites and we think they back that up here with the win.

Another top clash takes place at Maslin Park as Island Marine take on Cadoxton Imps. Marine will be looking to get back to winning ways after a great start to the campaign while Imps seem to be getting stronger as the season goes along. We can’t separate these two title contenders and we’ll go with a draw.

Cowbridge Town host Cogan Coronation, Town still haven’t picked up points this season while Cogan have won the last two, this will be close but think Town’s search goes on with Cogan picking up their third successive win.

Cardiff Airport take on Tynewydd in Rhoose, Airport come in off the back of three straight league defeats, Tynny are without a point so far but have put on good displays in their last two and we are going out on a limb to tip them for their first win here.

In Division One, leaders AFC Rhoose B are bulldozing all in their path and they travel to take on Holton Road B this week, we can only see Rhoose B’s winning form continuing.

Cadoxton Barry, dispute dropping points last week in a draw are hot on Rhoose’s tail and head to Burnham Avenue to play Vale Madrid, Madrid have been in decent form and this will be a tough test for both sides, we are calling the draw.

Barry Vikings have been in excellent form lately and head to play St Athan B. St Athan B are unbeaten in two but we think that ends against a very good Vikings team.

Rhoose Social are starting to pick up steam as a side and have found good form as of late, they play Vale United who are always a handful but we will say it’s a home win here.

Penarth Town B entertain Barry Athletic B, both sides are in desperate need of points and despite Athletic B picking up a win last week, we are going with a draw.

And finally, after picking up their first point last week, SP Billy host Cwm Talwg. Talwg are in need of a win too but we think SP finally pick up their first victory of the season here.

Let’s hope all the games get played this weekend, check back here for a full round up.
