Vale Football League Preview 7/12

The Vale league rolls into December but there’s no festive cheer yet as we have a fierce title races going on.

Premier Division leaders AFC Rhoose travel to Cwrt Y Vil to take on Penarth Town. Rhoose are a point ahead of Cadoxton Imps at the top, have played a game more and are on a three game unbeaten run. However, Penarth are resurgent and knocked seven past Barry Athletic last week, so we are going with Town to win this one.

Holton Road are fast coming up on the outside, they sit fourth but have three games in hand on the leaders. The only unbeaten side in the division travel to play Cowbridge Town, who picked up their first win of the season last weekend. That win will buoy Town and this will be a tight game but we see Holton Road taking the points.

Tynewydd are unbeaten in two and host Cogan Coronation. Cogan’s good run came to an abrupt end last week, a result that put Tynny at the bottom. Tynny will want to get off the foot of the table and we think they get the win.

Barry Athletic host Cardiff Airport at the Athletic Ground looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat last week. Airport have lost the last five games and we think Athletic get back winning ways.

In Division One, leaders AFC Rhoose B face a tricky trip to Maslin Park to play fourth place Island Marine B, but Rhoose B must not fear any team at the moment and after an emphatic win last week we see them collecting another three points here.

With Cadoxton Barry not in league action Barry Vikings will be hoping to leapfrog them into second, they travel to play Cwm Talwg and we think Vikings great run continues with a win here.

Barry Athletic B’s good run came to an end last week and they head to play St Athan B looking to get back to winning ways. This will be a close encounter and we think it ends all square.

Vale Madrid host Penarth Town B in what should be a fine contest, both sides not playing in the league for two months. This will be close but we’re going with Penarth B.

SP Billy host Holton Road B hoping to bounce back from a heavy loss last week. Holton B suffered defeat too and we think they can pick up the points here.

Vale United host Cadoxton Barry in the Barry Cup, United got a much needed win last week but Caddy Barry are in fine form and we expect them to progress.

Island Marine are in SWFA Cup action against Llantwit Fardre. This will be a stern test for the only remaining Vale league side in the competition, and of course we back them to get the win and advance.
