Vale Football League Round Up 4/9

What a Wednesday evening we had in the Vale league with 57 goals scored in both divisions in this final midweek of the summer with some tremendous contests.  

We start with the evenings big clash as undefeated AFC Rhoose were held 3-3 by champions Barry Athletic in an excellent game of football, the result sees the end of Rhoose’s 100% record but they still sit atop of the league. Rhoose went into a 2-0 lead but Athletic vale back to go 3-2 up before Rhoose levelled in the last ten minutes.

Cardiff Airport’s last gasp equaliser saw the points shared in this clash with Holton Road at  Ceri Road with a score of 1-1 to bring Holton’s perfect start to an end.

Cadoxton Imps showed character to come back from 2-0 down against Sully Sports to draw a thriller 3-3, Sully also showed what they are made of, showing true grit to come through with ten men in the last twenty minutes in a fine battle of a game on a difficult pitch, two good footballing sides.

Island Marine made it two from two as they took a 1-0 triumph from Cogan Coronation, that’s seven scored and none conceded in two games by the impressive Marine side.

St Athan picked up their second win of the campaign with an excellent 4-1 victory over a good Penarth Town side to move up to 6th.

In Division One, leaders Cadoxton Barry kept their 100% record as they edged Holton Road B 4-3 coming back from being behind to take the points.

Island Marine B perfect start came to an end as they were defeated 3-1 by Rhoose Social.

Barry Vikings continued their good start to the campaign with an entertaining 6-3 victory over SP Billy.

Penarth Town B once again were amongst the goals as they and Cwm Talwg played out a brilliant 4-4 draw.

AFC Rhoose B stayed unbeaten as they saw off Barry Athletic B 3-0 at Ceri Road to move second.

And finally, in the much anticipated battle of the Vale’s, it was United who clinically won 5-1 against Madrid.

So a top evening of Vale football was had on Wednesday evening, the season rolls on to Saturday. Check back here tomorrow (Thursday) night for a preview.
