Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview 1/2/20

Holton Road travel to Cwrt Y Vil to take on Penarth Town in one of only two Premier Division games this weekend as the divisional cups take centre stage. Holton Road will be looking to bounce back after their first league defeat two weeks ago and face a Penarth side who are two without defeat and not conceded in that time. A win for Holton will send them top of the table and we think that’s what they will do.

Cadoxton Imps got back to winning ways in a bizarre encounter last week and they head to play Cogan Coronation, who inflicted one of Imps’ two league losses earlier in the season. Cogan, though, are out of form at the moment and we think Imps take the win here.

Cwm Talwg host Penarth Town B in division one action this week, both teams are in decent form and look for this one to be a high scoring affair with Penarth B taking the points.

In the historic ASRS Cup it’s the first round, Only three ties played here with five sides getting a bye through to the quarters. Holders AFC Rhoose host Cowbridge Town, Town will be looking for an upset but Rhoose are flying high and we can only see a home win here.

Last seasons finalists Island Marine welcome Barry Athletic to Maslin Park for the short trip in the Island derby. Marine won the league fixture last week comfortably and we think it’ll be the current league leaders who progress here.

Tynewydd host St Athan at the butts, St Athan came out 3-0 winners in the league encounter last week and we can see them heading through here in a tight contest.

The Supporters Cup sees five games ties and three byes. Favourites AFC Rhoose B face Island Marine B at the butts, Rhoose B are in imperious form and we can only see them advancing here.

Holton Road B host BV at the butts, only one defeat in ten for BV but Holton B did get back to winning ways last weekend. This will be a good contest but look for BV to go through.

In more action at the buttrills, Cadoxton Barry take on Vale United. Caddy Barry returned to winning ways last time out and Vale Utd have been on a poor run despite a spirited effort last week, so we think Caddy Barry go in the hat for the next round.

Barry Athletic B welcome Rhoose Social to the at the butts too. Rhoose Social have picked up in recent weeks and we can see them continuing that run here and going into the quarter finals.

And finally, Vale Madrid and SP Billy go to battle at Burnham Avenue. Madrid have been on bad run lately while SP have really picked up their form so we think SP head through.

Check out the full round up on Sunday morning this week.
