Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview – 23/2/19

Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview – 23/2/19

AFC Rhoose will look to bounce back from SWFA Senior Cup disappointment this week as they host Island Marine. Marine lost their last league outing but put the record straight with a ASRS cup victory two weeks ago. It’s been a draw and Rhoose win in their last two encounters, look for a very narrow home win here.
Barry Athletic hope to get back to winning ways against a somewhat resurgent Sully Sports. Athletic losing last weekend has opened the title race right back up, Sully’s recent form suggests this one won’t be straight forward but Atheltic will be odds on for the three points.
Penarth Town welcome Cowbridge Town to Cwrt Y Vil with both sides still harbouring second place aspirations and both struggling to maintain a good run of form. On their day both sides are a match for anyone in the league as both have proved this season with comprehensive wins over the leaders. Look for a high scoring entertaining draw here, if both are at full strength.
In Division One, Champions Holton Road will be looking to react following their first league loss of the season last weekend as they play Cogan Coronation. Cogan sit in fourth and maybe will fancy their chances with the champions attentions possibly looking toward the cups now with the league already assured, but look for the champions to edge this one.
Second place Tynewydd face Cardiff Airport looking to stay ahead of the chasing pack. Airport smashed their losing streak last week with a mammoth win and will hope to take that momentum into this tough encounter. Tynny are a tough outfit to beat though and look for a very tight home win.
In Division Two, leaders AFC Rhoose B travel to third place St Athan B. Both sides have beaten the other this season and both have suffered slips in recent weeks. This one is too close to call but we’ll give the nod to the hosts.
Second place Barry Vikings head to Maslin Park to play Island Marine B. Marine B have found form in recent weeks while Vikings winning streak came to an end last week in the cup. Despite Vikings excellent form we sense an upset coming.
Penarth Town B play Barry Athletic B at Cogan in a very intriguing contest. Penarth B are three points ahead of Athletic B and with a run of results and other games going their way could be in the title picture, so we’ll go with the Penarth win here.
Cadoxton Atheltic host Vale Madrid at Pencoedtre. Athletic have been out of form lately  with 8 league losses in a row but did push Rhoose B to the limit last week in a 3-2 loss. Vale Madrid, however, are in a resurgence and booked a place in the Dockers Cup semi finals last week, so look for that resurgence to continue here with a win to finally lift Vale Madrid off the bottom of the league.
As always keep your eyes peeled for the full round up of all the games over the weekend and good luck to all sides playing.
