Vale of Glamorgan Football League Preview 25/1/20
Island Marine are on a three game winning streak and have snuck up on the title race and firmly in the mix, they head over the Island to play Barry Athletic in this derby. Athletic lost last time out and Marine are on fine form so we think Marine continue their winning run. With both AFC Rhoose and Holton Road not in action, Marine could go top with a victory.
St Athan picked up their first win in three games last time and host Tynewydd, who have lost their last two after a four game unbeaten run, so we say this ends all square.
Cadoxton Imps will have waited three weeks to get the chance to respond to their loss to Holton Road and they take on Cardiff Airport at Station Road, Wenvoe. Airport ended a seven game losing streak two weeks ago but Imps will be raring to go and we think they take the win.
Consistency is key for Penarth Town as they welcome Cowbridge Town to Cwrt Y Vil. Penarth have won three and lost three of their last six as they take on bottom of the league Cowbridge, who have lost their last three games. We say Penarth take the points in this one.
In Division One, leaders AFC Rhoose B head to Corntown to play Vale United. Rhoose B sit seven points clear at the top, allbeit having played a game more than second place. Rhoose B are in tremendous form and we only see them picking up the points here.
Second place BV look to bounce back from their first loss since August when they visit Burnham Avenue to take on Vale Madrid. Madrid are without a win in 5 and we think BV get back to winning ways here.
Cadoxton Barry host St Athan B at Bryn Y Don, without a win in three after being unbeaten before that. St Athan B have two wins from their last four as their indifferent form continues, and we think Cadoxton Barry get back in their grove here with a win.
Island Marine B take on Holton Road B, Marine B are three without win while Holton B are on a run of two straight defeats, we think Marine B edge this one.
Cwm Talwg have made an unbeaten start to 2020 and they take on Rhoose Social who got back to winning ways last time out. This is a tough one to call so we’ll say it ends a point a piece.
SP Billy have also made a great start to the new decade and are unbeaten in the new calendar year, they welcome Penarth Town B to Pencoedtre. Penarth B are in good form and we think they inflict the first defeat of 2020 on SP, just.
