Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up

Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up

Only three games were played in the Vale this weekend after the overnight deluge saw numerous games postponed.

In the SWFA Intermediate Cup Semi Final, St Athan went into the last four of the competition with a 4-1 win over Nelson Cavaliers of the Taff Ely & Rhymney League. Saints now go on to play SWFA Alliance League side Penydarren BC this coming Saturday (8th). The game will be played at Rhydyfelin FC.

In the Premier Division in form Rhoose took full advantage of being the only Prem game played by going top of the league with 7-0 demolition of Masons Moving Group. Although teams below have games in hand, most notably league favourites Vale United who sit just three points behind Rhoose but with a huge 6 games in hand.

In Division One, second place Barry Belgrade’s title challenge took a big hit as they were edged out 3-2 by Cogan. The result leaves leaders Barry Athletic B just one win away from claiming the Division One title.

This week we see the return of mid week games as Barry Athletic host St Athan and Island Marine welcome Vale United, both Premier Divsion matches, Wednesday 6pm kick offs.

Next weekend, the games of the day in each division look like being Barry Athletic vs Cowbridge Town in the Prem, Pumas vs Sully in Division One and BV vs Barry Albion in Division Two. Of course also Barry Athletic B travel to play Cardiff Airport B in hope of gaining the one more victory to claim the Division One title.
