Penarth Town edged ever closer to their first league title in 14 years as they saw off the reigning champions Island Marine 3-2. A double from William Thomas and one from David Shallis saw the leaders lead 3-1 at the break, Marine pulled another back after half time through Howe to add to Blackmore’s first half strike but Penarth held on for the three points.

Holton Road kept the pressure up with a 2-0 victory over BV, first half goals from Morgan and Cutajar gave Holton the win to keep them 4 points behind Penarth. Penarth could be crowned champions Saturday if they beat AFC Rhoose and Holton Road lose to Cadoxton Barry.

Cadoxton Barry continued their fine form in 2022 with a comprehensive 5-1 demolishing of Cardiff Airport at Ceri Road. Paget put Airport in front early on but goals from Cubitt, a brace from Randall, Donnelly and Oram gave Cadoxton Barry the comfortable win.

AFC Rhoose returned to winning ways as they defeated Barry Athletic on the Island. Drew stunned Rhoose in the first minute, putting Athletic in front but Butler soon levelled begin an own goal and Bryan put Rhoose 1-3 up at half time, Butcher then confirmed the three points with the fourth 15 minutes from time.

St Athan picked up a thrilling 3-2 victory over Cogan Coronation. Boyd put St Athan in front early before Cogan hit back to lead 1-2, but St Athan then scored twice in a couple of minutes as Boyd levelled and veteran Rob Kemp hit the winner.

In Division One only two games, Holton Road B saw off Vale Madrid 5-2 to go back third, although many of the chasing pack have several games in hand. Hewitson (2), Knight, Martyn and Thomas with the goals that put Holton B back to winning ways.

Island Marine B picked up their first league win in four as they edged St Athan C 2-1, Shepard’s double giving them a much needed 3 points.
