Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 2/9

  • St Athan continued their impressive start to the season as they thumped Island Marine 6-1 at Maslin Park. Anton Williamson hit a hat trick as Sean Lucas, Ben Boyd and Dafydd Issac added the others to keep St Athan top of the Premier Division.
  • Barry Athletic needed a last minute Olly Tipples penalty to rescue a point against FC Barry. Tyler Jenkinson had put FC Barry ahead from the spot earlier in the game but denied the three points at the death.
  • Vale United picked a big win away at Ceri Road 4-2 against AFC Rhoose. Jac Butler put Rhoose ahead but Jason Tominey soon levelled, Cai James then put United in front before Finley Floyd extended the lease, Liam Butcher pulled one back for Rhoose but James notched his second of the game to seal the win for Vale United.
  • In the Championship, Vale Madrid continued their perfect start to the season with an 8-1 rout of AFC Rhoose Development. Nick Good scored four goals with David Evans notching a brace, and then Josh Cummings and Sam Robinson also scoring. The win keeps Vale Madrid top of the table with a 100% record.
  • Tynewydd saw off Island Marine reserves 6-1 at the Buttrills, Stefan Ross the star of the show with four goals, Gareth Griffiths and Tom Parsons also made the scoresheet to move Tynny into second spot.
  • Cogan Coronation got back to winning ways with a 3-0 triumph over St Athan reserves. Joe Pinch, Tyler O’Brien and Mohamed Osman, with the goals.
  • Cadoxton Imps played out a second successive 4-4 draw as they were held by Cardiff Airport Vets. Dean McCarthy put Imps ahead before Casey Davies levelled and Karl Steel put the Airport ahead, but Chris Rees equalised before half-time. Joe Baldock restored Airports lead but Kaz Rohbani-Eivazu the game level again for Imps. Cam Leach came off the bench and hit what Imps may have thought would be the winner but Mikey Hall immediately levelled for Airport to ensure a share of the points.
  • Rhoose Social came out 4-2 winners over St Athan Thirds but had to come from behind to do so. Brennan Page gave Social an early lead but Sam Webb scored twice to give St Athan Thirds a 2-1 half time lead. Richard Davies then equalised for Social before Chris Morgan put them back in front and Jordan Owen sealed the win with the fourth.
  • Porthkerry Panthers picked up their first point of the season as they draw 3-3 with Barry Athletic Reserves. Kyle Booker put Athletic in front but Matt Nation levelled and Jack Such gave Panthers the lead. Dan Saunders scored to put Athletic back on level terms but Such soon notched his second of the game to put Panthers back in front, however, Curtis Jones equalised to rescue a point for Athletic.
  • Next week sees a mixture of league games and the first round of the South Wales FA Cup.
