Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 

After seven long weeks of rain, water logged pitches and postponements, the Vale league returned with a full program. In the past seven weeks only a smattering of clubs have been lucky enough to play one game. The weather causing huge disruption to the league and cups with games that should have been played back in January being played this past weekend. And so it was the ASRS Cup, Supporters Cup and Dockers Cup that took centre stage as the season recommenced.

In the quarter finals of the historic ASRS Cup, Barry Belgrade thumped Rhoose 5-1 in what many had predicted to be a close affair but the Belgrade juggernaut ploughed on to the semi finals. Island Marine will be their opponents in the semi finals on Saturday, after they dispatched Penarth Town 4-1. Barry Athletic progressed in a tricky away tie as they defeated Cowbridge Town 4-1 to set up a semi final clash with St Athan.

In the Supporters Cup first round, Penarth Town edged out Cadoxton Athletic in a nine goal thriller, winning out 5-4. In another thrilling first round match, Cwm Talwg and Cadoxton Imps played out 3-3 draw and needed penalties to separate the sides with Cwm Talwg winning the shoot out. In the quarter finals of the competition Tynewydd stunned high flying Barry Saints 2-1 to go to the semi finals while Cogan booked their final four spot with a 2-0 victory over SP Billy.

In the Dockers Cup, BV picked up their first win since October to defeat St Athan B 2-1 to go into the semi finals.

In the sole league fixture in division two, Rhoose B narrowly lost out 1-0 to Island Marine B. Marine B leapfrogging their opponents into fifth spot.
