Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 22/10

  • Holton Road made it seven heaven as they came from behind to defeat Cwm Talwg 2-1 and stay top of the league with their 100% record intact. Sam Montgomery put Talwg in front at half time but Holton fired back through Tyrell Williams and Frank Roe hit the winner.
  • Vale United and Penarth Town played out a nine goal thriller in leafy Corntown. Rhys Knight and Tobi Winton put Penarth two up early but United goal machine Richard Evans hit a brace to level the game going into half time. However, Macauley Winton restored Penarth’s lead but veteran Evans completed his hat trick from the spot to make it 3-3 and become United’s leading scorer. Mitchell Stimson Jagger then put United in front for the first time in the game but that only lasted two minutes as Knight bagged his second of the game to make it 4-4. The drama wasn’t over and United captain Mark Williams notched the winner, ten minutes from time for a famous victory for Vale United over the champions.
  • AFC Rhoose stay third with a comfortable 4-0 away win over Sully Sports. Morgan Spickett scored his first goals for the club as he hit a hat trick, with Tyler Bolton completing the scoring in an impressive win.
  • St Athan picked up their first points of the season and moved off the foot of the table with a 4-1 victory over Cogan Coronation, Ben Boyd scored twice in the first half before Kellan Allison pulled one back for Cogan, however, Boyd soon completed his hat trick and then teed up Joe Wilburn to finish the scoring.
  • In the Championship, BV tightened their grip on the top of the table as they came out 4-2 winners over second place Cardiff Airport Vets. Louis James, a Kye Ingham double and Elliot Jackson gave BV the win and send them 6 points clear at the top, with their 100% record still intact. 
 
  • Tynewydd moved up to fourth after a 5-2 win over St Athan Thirds, goals from Gareth Griffiths, Nathan Donnelly, Rhys Palmer notched with Joe Matthews and Lewis Slack coming off the bench to score too. 
 
  • St Athan Reserves came from behind to defeat Vale Athletic 3-1 and leapfrog them into sixth. Ben Bellingham put Athletic in front but Andy Home levelled before Ieaun Morgan converted from the spot to put St Athan ahead, and Home got his second to seal the points. 
 
  • Barry Athletic B hammered Peterston Super Ely 5-0, goals from Calvin Fahiya, Dan Saunders, Will Drew, Ameer Ihbasheh and Theo Savva, the win moves Athletic B above Peterston into 9th. 
 
  • In the Barry Cup, Island Marine went through to the quarter finals with a comprehensive 6-1 win over Rhoose Social, Madison Armstrong, Craig Gilbert, Rhys Hopkins, Gabriel Oram, Tom Barnfield and a penalty from keeper Bradley Walters saw Marine comfortably through. 
 
  • Cardiff Airport joined them in the final 8 also winning 6-1 away at Vale Madrid, Lee Stradling bagged a hat trick and Callum Hobbs got a brace with Bradley Williams adding the other.
