Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up – 23/2/19 

AFC Rhoose saw their title chances suffer a huge blow as they lost to a goal crazy Island Marine, while Barry Athletic were beating Sully Sports 3-1 to extend their lead at the top and now take a ten point lead at the top. Rhoose shipped seven goals in a frantic 7-5 loss to Marine, Athletic now require two wins from their final three games to clinch the title. Marine in turn go a point behind Rhoose as they look to finish the season strongly. Cowbridge Town also move a point behind Rhoose as they were victorious away to Penarth Town 2-0, Penarth now dropping down to sixth with four points separating them and second.
In Division One, Champions Holton Road, of course with the league already assured, suffered a second successive loss as Cogan Coronation edged them 1-0. A big win for Cogan as they have a second place aspirations of their own. Holton will now hope they can return to their title winning form as they head into the Supporters Cup semi finals against Cadoxton Imps next Saturday.
Second place Tynewydd played out a 2-2 draw with a rejuvenated Cardiff Airport, the battle for second is going to be a very tight affair.

In Division Two, leaders AFC Rhoose B were held 1-1 at St Athan B, with the real winners being Barry Vikings who won 3-0 at Island Marine B to go within a point of leaders Rhoose. A big blow to St Athan B who sit third and now four off top having played a game more. Penarth Town B have two games in hand on third and quickly gaining as they thumped Barry Athletic B 5-1 at Cogan. And finally Cadoxton Athletic ended their winless run to secure a 2-1 victory over Vale Madrid to lift them up a place to sixth.
