Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 25/9

In the Premier Division league leaders Penarth Town thrashed ten man St Athan 5-1. The St Athan keeper was sent off after twenty minutes and Penarth took full advantage in clinical style in a great performance. Tobi Winton, Rhys Hocking, Rhys Knight and a double from Adam Nilsen gave Penarth the comprehensive win to move them three points clear at the top and inflict St Athan’s first defeat of the season.

Cadoxton Barry moved up to second place as they completely ran riot in a total rout against Barry Athletic to Bryn Y Don. Jamie Livingstone hit four and league top scorer Jamie Randall bagged a hat trick amongst the ones to hit the back of the net.

BV stunned Holton Road at Pencoedtre with a last minute equaliser from Elliot Jackson to take a point in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Ryan Hales got a hat trick for Holton Road, but BV showed great resilience to keep coming back and it paid off right at the death.

AFC Rhoose remain unbeaten in the league as they defeated Cogan Coronation in an entertaining 6-3 victory. Goals from Josh Bryan, Elliot Ball, Liam Butcher and Joe Butcher gave Rhoose the three points at Ceri Road.

Cardiff Airport saw off Tynewydd 5-2 at Pencoedtre, Max Jones with a brace helping Airport to their second consecutive win.

Island Marine thrashed Cowbridge Town at the Bear Field with Jack Blackmore and Joe Doughty both grabbing two apiece amongst the goal scorers, the result moves Island Marine up to sixth.

In Division One leaders Rhoose Social needed a late Ryan John equaliser six minutes from time to grab a point away against Vale Athletic in a 2-2 draw. In the process it ended Athletic’s 100% start to the campaign, but both sides remain unbeaten.

Sully Sports leap frogged opponents Cwm Talwg into second spot following a 3-1 victory. Ashley Cottle grabbed a brace to become the divisions leading scorer.
St Athan B were held 2-2 by BV reserves, debutant Connor Booker and Barrie Hughes got the St Athan goals but BV dug in for the vital point.Holton Road B got back to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Island Marine B host at Maslin Park, with Mitch Thomas getting two to help his side to the three points.

And finally, St Athan C picked up their first points of the season as they defeated Vale Madrid 2-0 at Burnham Avenue, James Clancy and Andy Smejka got the goals that gave St Athan C their first victory.
