Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up

Barry Athletic’s unbeaten run is over, coming to a screeching halt as they were thrashed 4-0 by Penarth Town. Athletic remain five points ahead of Rhoose at the top albeit having played a game more. Penarth stay third and while seven points off top do not rule out a surge toward that top spot for the leagues in form team.

Rhoose closed the gap at the top to the aforementioned five points by hammering Barry Saints 7-0. Island Marine ended a run of three league games without a win as they thumped St Athan 4-0, four games without a win for St Athan now. Cowbridge Town’s resurgence continued as they beat bottom side Sully Sports 2-0, it’s three games won in a row for Cowbridge as they move up to fifth while its five league games without a win for Sully.

In Division One, leaders Holton Road made it ten league games out of ten with a 5-1 victory over Cadoxton Barry. Cardiff Airport went second as they edged out Cogan Coronation 1-0. Cadoxton Imps saw off Cwm Talwg in a 4-3 thriller, while Tynewydd routed bottom side SP Billy 7-0 to go third.

In Division Two, St Athan B went two points clear at the top after a 3-1 win over Island Marine B, as nearest contenders Rhoose and Cadoxton Athletic played out a 1-1 draw. That’s five wins on the bounce now for St Athan B. Barry Athletic B and Vale Madrid drew 2-2 as did fourth vs fifth as Penarth Town B held Barry Vikings.

Next week’s match of the day is in Division One as it’s the top two in action, Holton Road host Cardiff Airport, the Airport looking to reduce that 12 point gap at the top.
