Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 30/11

The form book was torn up and thrown out the window in the VoG Premier Division this weekend with some eyebrow raising results.

Cadoxton Imps’ aspirations to retake top spot were put on hold as they were held by third place St Athan in Wenvoe. Imps came from two down to salvage a point in a thrilling contest, where both teams had chances to win it at the end.
Penarth Town took the reigning and defending champions Barry Athletic apart 7-1 in a real surprise result at Cwrt Y Vil. Town romped to only their second league win of the campaign with David Shallis scoring five of the goals.

Cowbridge Town finally picked up their first win of the season as they comprehensively defeated Cogan Coronation 4-1 away at the Rec. Ben Boyd, Chris Richards and a brace from Lloyd Lewis lifting Town off the foot of the table.

In Division One, it’s whatever you can do we can do too from the top three. League leaders AFC Rhoose B sent out a big statement against bottom side SP Billy as they romped to a huge away victory, doubles from Kyle Cates and Sean Nash contributing towards the victory along with other scorers.
Cadoxton Barry put Holton Road B to the sword at Bryn Y Don. Goals from Drew Burniston and two each from David Evans and Arturs Zomeroskis handed the home side the win in their first game in two months. Barry Vikings also continued their good run as they saw off St Athan B 6-2 at Wenvoe. Rhoose B still sit six points clear of Cadoxton Barry and seven ahead of Vikings, but both sides still have two games in hand.
Island Marine B are back to winning ways as goals from Nathan Tucker and Jack Blackmore gave the home side a 3-1 victory in the island derby over Barry Athletic B, to somewhat avenge the reverse defeat a few weeks ago. The win keeps Island Marine B in fourth place
And finally, Vale United edged Cwm Talwg 1-0 to get their first win in four league games, with Gareth Bevan grabbing the only goal in Corntown.

A full schedule of games next week, keep an eye out for the preview during the week.
