Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up

Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up

It was back to league action this weekend in the Vale league and the Premier Division title race was heavily influenced even without leaders Vale United playing.

We start in the Prem, where after ten games played and ten games lost Masons Moving Group finally picked up a point as they came from 3-1 down to stun second place St Athan and draw 3-3. The result could effectively kill off any sort of challenge to leaders Vale United who now sit four points clear but with two games in hand that would see them ten points ahead of the pack and yet to drop a point this season.

Elsewhere in the Premier, third played fourth as Rhoose and Cowbridge Town played out a 1-1 draw with Jack Farrington getting the Town goal. Tynewydd moved out of the bottom two with their first win in four with a 3-1 victory over Dinas Powys Athletic,
Mark McCarthey, Jack Cooke and a Julian Brana penalty securing the points. That’s four losses on the bounce for Dinas who find themselves second bottom now.

In Division One Barry Athletic B kept their title charge on track as they demolished reigning champions Cogan 6-1. Linford Harris banged in a hat trick with Dan Morgan adding a brace and Ben Pearce rounding off the scoring. The result keeps Atheltic B ahead of Barry Belgrade, who’s result against Glenbrook was unknown as of writing. Pumas and SP Billy had their title aspirations take a big hit as both suffered losses. Pumas were edged out 3-2 by Cadoxton Athletic and SP Billy lost a thriller 5-4 to Cadoxton Barry. Cardiff Airport notched only their second win of the season and in some style as they stunned Dockers 7-2.

There are new leaders in Division Two as Barry Saints took full advantage of Cadoxton Imps poor recent form to replace them at the summit. Barry Saints defeated Island Marine B 4-0 with Joe Matthews and Arturs Zomerovskis getting two goals each. Cadoxton Imps made it three without a win as they were held 3-3 by St Athan B, Craig Howells, Josh Howells and Alex Harry with the goals for St Athan B. Matt Bagnall and Ben Hartery gave Barry Albion a 2-1 on bottom side Pumas B, Josh Goodwin netting for Pumas B. Finally, Penarth Town B kept their title hopes alive as they demolished BVFC a mammoth 10-1. Morgan Hayman hit four with Alex Donovan getting a hat trick, Scott Willetts’ double and Macauley Winton completing this exceptional win.

Next week the stand outs are a top of the table clash in Division Two as new leaders play now second place Cadoxton Imps as they look to take back the number one slot. In Division One fourth place SP Billy host leaders Barry Athletic B and in the Premier Island Marine vs Cowbridge Town promises to be a corker.

Check back here next week for a full round up.
