Vale of Glamorgan Football League Round Up 9/11

It was touch and go but we got Vale football again for the first team in weeks!! Vale United vs Cadoxton Barry, Island Marine’s SWFA Cup game vs Church Village and Penarth Town B vs Barry Vikings succumbing to water logged pitches.

Current cup favourites Holton Road marched into the quarter finals with a 4-1 victory over St Athan at the Buttrils. Holton Road are unbeaten in the league this season and showed why here, with notably Ryan Hales scoring a goal of the season contender with a tremendous strike from 45 yards to lob the opposition keeper.
Premier Division leaders Cadoxton Imps go into the last eight with a 3-1 win away at Cardiff Airport with Andrew Mac, Liam Jones and Kyle Henderson with the goals, despite Jamie Mclaggon and Kris Powell missing absolute sitters.
AFC Rhoose got past Cogan Coronation in a tricky tie, this hotly contested match was settled by goals from Tom Bevan and a worldie from Josh Lowe.
SP Billy picked up their first win all season on somewhat of an upset at Burnham Avenue. SP edging Vale Madrid 3-2 to head to the quarter finals, can the fairy tale continue.
No giant killing for Cwm Talwg as they were soundly beaten by an impressive Penarth Town 7-1 at the Buttrills.
In Division One, Barry Athletic B threw form book out the window, but also set fire to it before that, as they romped to a huge win over Island Marine B in the Island Derby.Holton Road B saw off St Athan B 6-2, despite St Athan B coming back from two down, Holton Road B had the quality to pull away and take all three points comfortably.
Also Rhoose Social advanced to the quarter finals of the SWFA Intermediate Cup, with a 3-1 win over Bridgend & District first Division side Penyfai.
While Cowbridge drew 2-2 with Bryncae in the SWFA Cup but went out on penalties.

Forecast is cold but pretty good this week so we hope it leads to more football this coming weekend.
