Vale of Glamorgan Football Round Up

With the season reaching it conclusion both Division One and Two titles go to the final weekend to be decided while the historic ASRS Cup was claimed in the final at Jenner Park.

Vale United added the ASRS Cup to their league title to achieve a league and cup double. Vale were victorious 3-0 over Cowbridge Town with Jack Dummett, Ryan Jenkins and Jay Tominey getting the goals. Vale Utd will now look ahead to next Sunday’s Barry Cup Final at Jenner Park as they look to complete the treble.

In Division One Barry Belgrade completed their season having done all they can to pip Barry Athletic B to the league title as they defeated Dockers 5-1 to go one point ahead of Athletic B. The pressure is on Athletic B as they play Cadoxton Barry next weekend knowing a win or even a draw would give them the league, but defeat would see Belgrade crowned champions. Elsewhere in Division One Cogan and Pumas played out a 2-2 draw, Pumas still having an outside chance of promotion with a game left and Cadoxton Barry dispatched Cadoxton Athletic 5-1 in the Cadoxton derby.

In Division Two, Cadoxton Imps all but wrapped up the league title as they won 6-2 against Island Marine B and Barry Saints slipped up with a 3-3 draw against Barry Albion. The result sees Imps six points ahead with a game to go with Barry Saints having two games remaining, Imps are in pole position with a goal difference advantage of +20 more then Barry Saints. The Imps result saw Penarth B’s title slim hopes extinguished, but Penarth B won 6-4 against St Athan B.

Only one game in the Premier Division as the top leagues season was completed with St Athan victorious over Penarth Town 5-3.

Next week Division One and Two titles will be decided and Vale United play Rhoose in a heavyweight clash in the Barry Cup final at Jenner Park on Sunday.
