Vale of Glamorgan Senior football league round up

Super Saturday lived up to the billing with goals, surprises and drama in equal measure.

We start in the Premier Division as each fixture saw opposition in close proximity in the league table. Vale United continued on with their perfect start to the season as they emphatically defeated second place Penarth Town 5-1. The result sends Town down to fourth to highlight the competitiveness of the division. St Athan leap frogged Penarth into second as they edged out Barry Athletic 3-2 and Cowbridge Town went third after a ten goal thriller, winning 6-4 against Island Marine. Rhoose made in it three wins on the bounce in all competitions with a 4-0 win over Dinas Powys Athletic and Tynewydd won the battle of the bottom two 3-1 over Masons Moving Group to move up a place to eighth.

In Division One the top six collided and we have new league leaders. FC Pumas went top after a hard fought 2-1 over much fancied Barry Belgrade, who drop to third after Barry Athletic B saw off fourth place SP Billy 3-1. Cadoxton Athletic swapped places with Cogan to go fifth as they won a cracker 4-3. Sully Sports routed hapless bottom side Glenbrook, while Cadoxton Barry finally recorded their first league win of the season 5-2 against Cardiff Airport.

In Division Two BV were second after last week, but only temporarily, as Barry Saints reclaimed it in style as they dismantled BV 9-1. Cadoxton Imps made it a perfect ten as they thumped bottom side FC Pumas B 7-0. Penarth Town B closed the gap on third place to a point as they won 4-1 over Barry Albion. Finally, St Athan B won their first in four games as they edged out Island Marine 2-1.

Next week it’s Barry Cup quarter finals!! Tie of the round is between the top two in the Prem as St Athan host the undefeated Vale United.

Check back here next week for a full round up of all the action.
