Vale Senior Football League Round Up

The action really heated up this weekend in the Vale league with some thrillers and some hammerings played out.

Premier Division leaders AFC Rhoose came back from 4-0 down in the last fifteen minutes to draw 4-4 with Cadoxton Imps. Ben Murphy’s hat trick inspiring the incredible comeback and to stay unbeaten.

Holton Road absolutely routed Tynewydd to also remain undefeated, Tyrell Williams, Ryan Hales, Jack Cutajar, Mark Kingdon, Shaun jachontow and Ben Pearce all among the goals.

Barry Athletic edged Cowbridge Town 2-1, Teejay Caton notching the winner in a tight contest.

Island Marine comprehensively saw off St Athan 4-0 to keep their 100% streak alive, and continue their record of not conceding a goal so far this campaign.

Reece Lewis struck a free kick winner for Cardiff Airport away to Penarth Town in a 2-1 victory that puts Airport fifth.

In Division One, AFC Rhoose B went top with 7-1 drubbing of St Athan B. Rhoose B leap frog Cadoxton Barry who did not feature in the league this weekend.

Penarth Town B edged out Holton Road B 3-2 in a thriller, while Vale Madrid saw off Barry Athletic B 3-1.

Vale Utd secured 3-1 triumph over SP Billy and Island Marine B got back to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over a Cwm Talwg.

This weekend also saw the opening round of the SWFA Intermediate Cup, a competition open to teams outside of their leagues top division. Last term the final saw an all Vale affair as Holton Road defeated Tynewydd. This weekend Rhoose Social hammered Lisvane Panthers 10-1 to advance, while Cadoxton Barry and Barry Vikings both went out to Naipers Arms and Llanharry respectively, both losing 6-3.

The league also lost Sully Sports this week as the clubs reserve side had to withdraw from the VOGAFL. We wish Sully Sports luck in the Alliance league and hope to see their reserve side back in the VOGAFL again one day.
