Vale Football League Round Up 14/9
Rhoose Social sprung a huge cup upset, only a few months into existence, the first division side dumped Premier Division Champions Barry Athletic out of the Barry Cup at the first hurdle.
Goals from Dan Morgan, Jack Cutajar and Shaun Jachontow saw Holton Road knock cup holders Cowbridge Town out with a 3-0 victory.
In the final first round tie, Penarth Town picked up their first win of the season to eliminate Barry Vikings, Rhys Fford, David Shallis, Sam Wooster and Callum Eva notching in a 4-1 win.
In the Premier Division, Island Marine certainly look like the real deal as they continued their 100% start to the campaign with an impressive 4-1 victory at Cardiff Airport to send them top of the league.
Tom Case and Joey Matthews put Tynewydd 2-0 up at half time against Cadoxton Imps, but this week it was Imps who came back, as Gez Parry came off the bench to turn the game around. Ryan Davis and Ryan Warden on their debuts and ‘Mr love island’s’ Jordan Turner got the goals in an eventual 3-2 win.
St Athan bounced back after disappointment last week to secure a 3-1 victory over Cogan Coronation, Sean Lucas amongst the goals.
In Division One, Cadoxton Barry’s perfect start is over as they were held 2-2 by Vale United.
AFC Rhoose B stay top of the division as they picked up an impressive 6-2 victory over Penarth Town B. Josh Rowe and James Austin banged in a brace apiece with Ciaran Webb and Ethan Park adding the others.
Island Marine B continued their impressive start to go second with a 2-0 triumph over SP Billy.
Vale Madrid made it two wins in a row as they saw off St Athan B 3-0.
And finally, Holton Road B edged Barry Athletic B 3-2 in an entertaining contest. Cole Saunders, Marc Williams and Josh Bell grabbing the goals.
Next week is a mixture of league games and the first round of the SWFA Cup with a number of Vale sides involved.
